Overview[]

The CPV-class heavy destroyer is the predominant offensive ship in the Covenant Navy. Heavily armed for its size, it also offers a number of fleet buffs to ensure it is used in large numbers.

History[]

The CPV-class destroyer was first sighted by UNSC forces during the Battle of Harvest to assist the light cruiser Rapid Conversion in cleansing the planet. These vessels continued to serve in the vanguard of the Covenant fleet, using their powerful shielding and over-sized plasma cannons to smash through UNSC fleets. Although lacking the versatility of the more widely fielded CCS-class battlecruiser, the CPV-class should never be underestimated, particularly when in knife-fight range. Their anterior plasma cannons can melt through Titanium-A plating and quickly deplete energy shielding, proving that it can even take on larger UNSC capital ships and win.

In the Post-War era, many factions make use of the CPV-class as heavy escorts and even battlegroup flagships, with the more valuable CCS-class vessels seen as a luxury and used as fleet flagships.

Weapons and Tactical Usage[]

During the mid-game, these ships are very effective, helping defending your worlds from potential invasions. While it can be said the CCS-class is better in one-on-one combat, the CPV-class is best used in offensive battlegroups, where their lower cost makes them easy to replace and their fleet support abilities makes them deadly in groups. These ships are best used as the bulk of your fleet late-game due to their combined firepower.
