The DDS Carrier is an immense support ship that carries many races of the Covenant used to occupy worlds in search of artifacts.

Overview[]

One of the first capitals to be made available for the Covenant, these vessels will find use throughout the game thanks to their ability to field many squadrons of strike-craft and their overall power.

History[]

Throughout the Human-Covenant War, DDS-class Carriers have supported the Covenant Armada. The most impressive feature of this class (aside from its durability and powerful weapons array) is it's extensive strike-craft compliment, consisting of three Seraph squadrons, two hundred Banshees and thirty-four Spirit or Phantom dropships. In addition to its support craft capacity, it has an equally impressive number of drop pods used to send in Sangheili shock troops to a planet's surface with the intent of causing sabotage and destruction on a large scale.

Weapons and Tactical Usage[]

Thanks to its impressive durability for its cost, this vessel should be your first build in any game and can easily turn the tide in early game battles. While its early-game potential is not in question, the addition of its Colonize ability allows it to improve structure construction times on planets, ensuring that its end-game potential is far from poor. With a possible compliment of eight strike-craft, it is simply the best carrier in the game and should be used when attacking UNSC worlds to get around static defenses.

0.75 Release and Onwards[]

The ship underwent a major change in role since its first addition. It now fills the Covenant's Carrier-Capital, and its simply the best carrier in the game, having a minimum of 8 squadrons of strikecraft and a maximum of 16. The DDS-class is no stranger to a fight either, and has heavy weapons and high shields to defend itself. Coupled with its abilities, there is no reason not to include the DDS to a fleet, providing strikecraft support where the RCS-class aren't available or practical.

The high strikecraft capacity and its heavy weapons makes it ideal for use as a supplement vessel in the flood mode. Its strikecraft can deal heavy damage and, if defended properly by Picket-classes, can maintain a constant stream of reinforcements until the OSS-class battlecarrier is unlocked.
