While the Marathon lags behind the Halcyon in survivability, this advanced cruiser is nimble for its size and packs a serious punch with MAC guns and Archer missiles. It can also field a full compliment of Longsword fighters.

Marathon-Class Heavy Cruiser

Essentially a buffed up cruiser that takes up a capital ship slot. Cheap and quick to build for a capital, they are powerful units to have within your fleet. Once the large fleets start coming around these units become a necessity to have.

History

Built to replace the ineffective Halcyon-Class Light Cruiser the Marathon thoroughly outclassed it's predecessor. Renown for it's ability to take and dish out damage with it's double MAC the Marathon served commendably through the Human-Covenant war. However even with all the advantages it had most of the Marathons built were destroyed, with only a few surviving the war.

Weapons and Tactical Usage

This ship comes with a Double MAC gun that fires twice as fast as the Thanatos-class destroyer. It also has a good Archer Missile and Autocannon armament. This thing is definitely a threat by that alone, however its abilities set it apart from cruisers. Especially the ability to fire a Shiva Nuclear Missile.

Due to their low fleet supply, they can be built almost as numerously as the Halcyon-Class Light Cruiser, only limited by capital ship slots. Use with your large frigate fleets to give yourself the extra firepower needed. This should be the most numerous capital ship you have.
